Hey y'all! I'm Mindy, owner of Junk In Her Trunk. in 2014 I was in corporate America living my dream as a sales and client service manager, when I was diagnosed with colon cancer. Four months after my colon removal I was let go from my company and started painting furniture in my garage as therapy. One day, the pizza delivery man saw a set of furniture I was painting and begged to buy it from me. It was then that I realized that I had something special. I was in pursuit of my next career move and continued painting as a hobby, but within two months we had so many furniture orders that I had to bring on two full time employees to keep up with the work. We had done 25 pieces of furniture for a particular client when they asked if we could paint their cabinets. I had never done cabinets before so I gave it a try. Fast forward to today, Junk In Her Trunk is one of the most respected and sought after companies for doing cabinets and furniture in northeast Florida. We have always been a referral based business and have never advertised, so we have only God and our clients to thank for our reputation as a leader in this field. We believe that you can't have a reputation of excellence when providing mediocre services. We thank each and every one of our clients for trusting us with their home.
Our Cabinet Painting Process has been continually developed over the years and we feel that it provides the best look and feel, as well as over all durability. We sand all doors and cabinet faces with a light grit sand paper first, as well as using a liquid deglosser to prepare the surfaces to accept paint. Then we apply a bonding primer
Our Cabinet Painting Process has been continually developed over the years and we feel that it provides the best look and feel, as well as over all durability. We sand all doors and cabinet faces with a light grit sand paper first, as well as using a liquid deglosser to prepare the surfaces to accept paint. Then we apply a bonding primer which bonds to everything from wood to plastic to glass. After the primer coat, two to three coats of a low VOC waterborne acrylic enamel paint are used to finish the surface. We use an HVLP sprayer (high volume/low pressure) to create an even finish that leaves no lines or brush marks. The paint is important, as it can be thought of as a hybrid between an oil base and a latex - where it has the strength and longevity of an oil based paint, but the clean up of a latex. It also has a finish built in, which leaves your cabinets looking factory fresh. This is important because applying a clear coat of polyurethane on top of painted cabinets can yellow over time. With the finish built in you don't have to apply any top coats and your colors will stay as vibrant as the day you had them done. In most cases, the process takes about a week from start to finish. We come in and remove all your doors and drawer fronts and then take them to our warehouse for prep and painting. We then come back to prep your kitchen, covering all appliances and masking off the cabinets. We then spray the cabinets in place in your home and bring the doors back when they are finished to re-install.
